Pelmeni are authentic Russian dumplings, similar in size to ravioli. They are made with a few basic ingredients - flour and eggs for the dough, and ground meat (beef, pork, chicken) mixed with onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Pelmeni are made in large batches with uncooked meat and frozen until time to consume. Typically pelmeni are boiled to fully cook the meat. Cooked pelmeni can also be pan fried for a bolder flavor. Serve pelmeni piping hot with a dollop of sour cream or ketchup.
